One for News From Elsewhere perhaps…
new roads = new traffic
I think there’s probably enough traffic now
feel free to argue the case otherwise
or sign the petition (this group has already won once -though trees and woodland had already been cleared before the courts prevented the new-road go-ahead –
unfortunately the road building lobby, has no qualms about persevering in the face of all sane and rational argument.

Operation Bluebell, no more money for NBAR, crowdfunder

This month, we have two events in Hollington Valley, a petition to sign and share to demand that no more public funds are allocated to the North Bexhill Access Road, and an update on Gabriel Carlyle’s crowdfunder to bring a second legal challenge to the Queensway Gateway road. See below for details and please help us spread the word about these important issues!
Operation Bluebell and Drawn to Witness
Over the weekend of April 2/3 we will be holding two events in Hollington Valley.
On Saturday 2nd at 2pm we will have Operation Bluebell, an act of civil disobedience to protect and preserve the flora of the nature reserve until the future of the valley has been secured. Bring a flowerpot and a trowel.
On Sunday 3rd at noon, another ‘Drawn to Witness’ event, to document the destruction caused by SeaChange Sussex. Bring drawing materials.
Full details of both events, including how to get there, here.
Petition: No more public funds for the NBAR!
We’ve launched a new petition and need your help to share it. The South East Local Enterprise Partnership has allocated a total of £16.6m to the North Bexhill Access Road. However, we think it can’t possibly be built for that much. The road is 43% of the length of the link road, yet is predicted to cost only 13% as much.
We believe there’s a strong case to be made that SeaChange has deliberately underplayed the likely cost of the road in order to secure funding, and that more money will be sought once construction has started.
Our petition demands that no further public funds, from any source, are allocated to the NBAR. If money runs out, that’s too bad – let them hold a jumble sale to raise the money. Not a penny more should come from the public purse.
Please sign and share the petition!
Stop the Queensway Gateway road: crowdfunder at 59%
The crowdfunder launched by Gabriel Carlyle earlier this week to bring a legal challenge to the Queensway Gateway road is now 59% funded, after some very generous contributions.
Although permission for judicial review was turned down initially ‘on the papers’, this is not uncommon and Gabriel’s lawyer will now make the case in front of a judge.
Can you make a donation, however small, and help to spread the word by sharing the appeal with friends? Full details here.
