LETTERS: Ban through traffic from streets with schools
Published: 20 May, 2016
• THE air pollution report Boris Johnson suppressed, now published by our new Mayor Sadiq Khan, makes shocking reading.
Pollution is dangerously high around schools in London’s most deprived areas. One of these is Clerkenwell Parochial, in Amwell Street.
Although residents need to use the street, much of the traffic appears to be from commuters and vans using it as a rat run to cross Pentonville Road.
Could the council conduct a traffic census and then, if this turns out to be the case, consider closing the street to through traffic?
A similar case should of course be made for all Islington schools.
