Going Dutch on a tandem tour with the visually impaired
A travel company which specialises in holidays for blind people is offering a special discount for any Cycling UK members who would like to act as front riders on a tandem tour through Holland later this year. Traveleyes takes equal numbers of blind and sighted people on its trips, with the sighted travellers describing the sights for the blind travellers, in return for which they get a 50% discount on the price of the holiday.
TANDEM CRUISING IN HOLLAND
Cycle through Holland’s Green Heart
September 30 – October 7, 2017
Join us for a Traveleyes first! Our premier tandem cycling holiday will take place in Holland’s green heart. For the duration of the holiday each sighted guide will be paired with a visually impaired traveller on a tandem bike each day for a cycling route through Holland. We will stay on our very own private river barge that will meet us in the centre of Amsterdam. From the capital, we will take to the water and begin to explore Holland’s verdant and luscious interior via its tranquil waterways.
Each day, we shall disembark our barge and cycle past quaint villages and windmills that line the perfectly flat countryside. Following a day of cycling, our river barge will meet us at the end of the route to accommodate us overnight. Traversing through Holland’s lake district, we’ll stop to enjoy typical Dutch delights along the way in Rotterdam, Haarlem, Leiden and Gouda all providing cultural intrigue and each possessing their own uniquely Dutch charm.
