Stop Killing Cyclists)
(by Lavender Hill Police Station) where 32 year old Lucia Ciccioli was killed while riding her bike on Monday 24th October, by a driver operating an HGV.
Monday at 5:30 PM – 7 PM Lavender Hill
Since 2009 over 80% of female cycling fatalities in Greater London have been killed by lorries. These needless deaths are avoidable if the haulage industry prioritised health and safety in public places. Stop Killing Cyclists will continue to demand that London and the UK’s streets are fit for purpose and safe for people by prioritising active transport.
This is a shocking statistic.
Don’t let there be any more statistics.
Stop Killing Cyclists will be holding a Vigil and Die in at the junction of Lavender Hill and Elspeth Road (by Lavender Hill Police Station) where 32 year old Lucia Ciccioli was killed while riding her bike on Monday 24th October, by a driver operating an HGV.
Please join us.
This vigil and die in will follow previous vigils held by SKC where we will gather from 5.30pm, have speakers at 6pm followed by a Die In in the road where the victim fell.
Further to our event to remember Sheila Karsberg in Camden, we are calling on Mayor Sadiq Khan to expedite the introduction of the ban on HGVs in London.
In addition, we would like Mayor Khan to carify his position and provide details of the safety ranking system which he has propsed to bring in. We have no idea what a 5 star rated or 0 star rated HGV is currently.
