A female cyclist was ‘run over by a Tesco lorry’ in London this evening.
Metropolitan Police was called to the scene at Clapham South station, near a Tesco car park at around 6pm after the woman reportedly got stuck under the vehicle.
She was rushed to the hospital after the ‘terrifying incident’ but her condition remains unknown.
A Royden Gomes told Metro.co.uk: ‘I didn’t see the actual collision but I saw the cyclist and her bike under the truck before the police arrived.’
Another witness to the incident wrote on Twitter: ‘Left forcing Tesco lorry runs over a cyclist/pedestrian at Clapham South. Possible fatality.’
One witness said ‘people were under the lorry with the victim’.
A third witness said: ‘She was conscious and receiving prompt medical treatment when I left.
‘It was pretty terrifying, but I hope she’s going to be ok.’
A police spokesperson said: ‘Police were called at 6:06pm on Friday, 5 October to Clapham Common South Side, near junction with Englewood Road, following reports of a road traffic collision.
‘Officers are in attendance with LAS.
‘A female cyclist is believed to have been in a collision with a truck.
‘She was taken to a south London hospital. We await an update as to her condition.’
No arrests have been made.
