This week’s Good Cycling Facility is a cycling underpass of a relatively minor road on the outskirts of Delft.

The cycle path is a new direct connection between the city of Delft and the new town of Zoetermeer – it didn’t exist at all before the plan was developed by the municipalities.

This underpass was built specifically to minimise inconvenience for people cycling – they don’t have to wait to cross the road, meaning no loss of momentum, and also no safety issues with dealing with motor traffic.
