Talk by Brian Deegan on design of cycle infrastructure. Brian Deegan is now the Principal Technical Specialist – Cycling – at TFL, but until last year he worked for Camden and designed the improvements to Royal College Street which we all appreciate.
His comprehensive approach to cycling design can be seen in the London Cycling Design Standards (2nd edition).
His talk is titled:
The cycling theory of everything: from network planning to scheme design.
This will allow him to start at network planning level and show the 5 steps to designing a cycle network; he will then look at new concepts in Link and junction design that will work within our regulations but also meet Dutch and Danish standards.
He says: “There is nothing more fun than giving yourself a big task. I am happy to get specific on any one element or wait for questions to do that. I thought it might be interesting to show the whole journey and how a coherent plan should be developed and delivered.”
So do come along and hear from an experienced and enthusiastic planner of cycling provision. Whether you have compliments or complaints, come along!
Members meetings are open to anyone who is likely to be interested in the topics being discussed.
LCC members can come to committee meetings which deal mainly with detailed planning and admin issues.
