Camden Council proposes a scheme to allow cyclists access to south Villas from Camden Park Road. We asked for this as part of the CRISP on Link 28 so as to increase permeability onto the route.

South Villas is a two-way street with No Entry from Camden Park Road, so the scheme is implemented by means of a short contraflow lane and a simple plug.

CCC’s response

We are very much in favour of the design for a cyclists’ entry point to South Villas from Camden Park Road. We requested this improvement in permeability during the CRIM on Link 28 and are pleased to se that it has now been designed.

The drawing describes the relocation of the No Entry post to the new island, but in addition, you need to put up at least one new sign (955) on the island indicating that cyclists can use the cycle lane inside the island. In the cycle entry to Maresfield Gardens from College Crescent, the following signs are deployed:

  • 955 on bollard on left of entry to the cycle lane
  • 955 and 610 on separating island (lower down on the No Entry post)
  • 610 (keep left) on a bollard facing South Villas

Signage of the route

Please provide a new route direction sign on Camden Park Road indicating that a left turn takes you to Route 6 southbound to Camden Town and the West End.
