Consultation on Cycling Improvements on Arlington Road

Dates: consultation  October  2017; reply due 10 December 2017; Officers: Tabrez Hussein, Simi Shah.  CCC member dealing with it Jean Dollimore.

Arlington Road runs parallel to Camden High Street on the west side and it forms part of a route that we once named as LCN 6a. (See Open Street Map http://www.openstreetmap.org/search?query=arlington%20road%20camden#map=16/51.5369/-0.1428&layers=C) for the original route that continues south via Mornington Crescent and Hampstead Road.

We had a previous discuss on CycleScape when Camden Council asked us about provisions to make it more comfortable for cycling.

The main point made was that there is too much through traffic.

Other points were:

– too much parking near to the junctions.

– parking on both sides between Jamestown Road and Delancey Street

Unfortunately the measures proposed are very disappointing:

– all that is offered is the removal of car parking on the southern approach to the Parkway junction to accommodate queueing traffic.
