This week’s Good Cycling Facility is a rural road that has effectively been ‘severed’ to remove through motor traffic, while a smooth cycle path has been retained.

This means any motor traffic is effectively forced to use parallel main roads, leaving these country lanes without any through traffic. Naturally a cycle path with an asphalt surface maintains this connection for cycle traffic. An example of filtering, but in a rural area!
