Making Permanent 5 Healthy School Streets

Camden are consulting on making permanent 5 trial Healthy School Streets schemes. Dates: consultation 29th September to 20th October 2022; Reply to: healthy.school.streets@camden.gov.uk; CCC member dealing with it John Chamberlain. Responded 19th October 2022. ; Decision 27 Nov 2022

Camden are consulting on making permanent 5 trial Healthy School Streets schemes (consultation is required approximately 12 months after installation). The schemes and a brief comment are as follows (more details in the links to Camden’s pages). Hours of operation would remain as now expect for a slight change at Ecole Jeannine Manuel. We supported the first four but said that (a) we wanted the hours to be longer and (b) there should be no exemptions (to make the roads truly motor traffic free). We did not support the one at Ecole Jeannine Manuel without further measures to deal with traffic displacement. You can click on the links to access the details and consultation response pages on Camden’s website.

Kentish Town Primary (Islip Street) Extend to Kentish Town Road to prevent dropping off round Wolsey Mews etc. Extend pavement widening, add 2 cycle hangars.

Christopher Hatton Primary (Mount Pleasant) Add 2 cycle hangars

Brookfield Primary (Croftdown Road) Add 2 cycle hangars

Argyle Primary (Tonbridge Street) Add 2 cycle hangars

Ecole Jeannine Manuel (Bedford Square) Change times to 8-9, 4-5 (currently 8-9, 3-4:30)

We plan to re-iterate our support for these schemes with qualifications as before and will add any comments from members.

Our response: CCC response to 5 Healthy School Streets Consultation Oct 2022.
