Camden’s consultation starts with this visualisation of the view from the western junction with Pancras Road
They propose the following changes: (Camden’s words in plain text, our interpretation from the drawing) in italics:
- Converting the two existing zebra crossings into signalised crossings to make it clear who has priority, with generous crossing times for pedestrians
- Convert the existing parallel crossing at King’s Boulevard to a Toucan crossing
- Convert the existing zebra crossing at the new bridge to a signalised crossing.
- Must point this out to LLS (David Harrison)
- Physically separated cycle lanes throughout Goods Way
- They are currently protected by flexible bollards and will be kerb separated
- Cycle and pedestrian safety improvements at the York Way junction
- Cycle gates on NB and SB approaches
- New shared and micro-mobility hub (on the western end of Goods Way, to include a dockless bike hire bay, sheltered cycle parking, cycle tools, plants and seating
- Relocating the disabled bays to Camley Street near the Goods Way junction
- A new bus stop for the 63 bus (subject to approval from TfL)
- The drawing shows a bus stop bypass outside No 4 Pancras Square
- Adding plants and trees throughout Goods Way (subject to further studies)
- Making the eastern end of Goods Way one-way westbound for all motor vehicles, with cycles able to continue westbound
- Goodsway has been one-way westbound for several years with cycling in both directions. This situation will be maintained.

Notes on CCC Concerns
- The junction with Pancras Road (as shown in the visualisation)
Taxis are still allowed to turn left from Goodsway into Pancras Road, there are many of them and left-hook is an issue. The proposal is for a segregated lane into an ASL. This would also make right turns into Camley Street difficult. A dedicated signal for cycles is required.
- The junction with York Way (as shown in the drawing)
The 2021 consultation on making the York Way scheme permanent suggests that SB cycles on York Way should be provided with a bypass. But now that there is no EB motor traffic, a bypass would not provide any advantage. The current proposal is for Cycle Gates on both approaches:
- The proposed NB cycle gate on York Way is an acceptable solution to the potential left hook issue for NB cycles.
- The question is whether SB cycles turning right into Goods Way will clear the junction before the NB motor traffic.
CCC’s response

In favour. Details here:

But they have not addressed our concern about the Pancras Road junction. More notes needed
