Camden are consulting on measures to slow traffic and make crossing the road easier for pedestrians on Highgate West Hill. The proposals include three new zebra crossings, some pavement widening, speed bumps and raised tables. There would be a continuous pavement across the mouth of Merton Lane. But there is little in the proposals for cyclists.
No changes to parking are proposed, not even between the Swains Lane roundabout and Millfield Lane, which is a very difficult stretch for cycling and much used by visitors to Hampstead Heath. At the very least, a cycle lane should be provided in this section.
