The local safety scheme proposes the following measures:
- At the South Grove junction, reduce the carriageway width at the zebra crossing by widening the existing islands and footway
- Construct a raised entry treatment and widen the footway at the junction with Bisham Gardens
- Widen the footway and introduce a new pedestrian refuge island, just south of junction with Cholmeley Park
- Shuffling of parking spaces to make room for loading bay
This response to the consultation from Camden on the proposed local safety measures at Highgate High Street is from Camden Cycling Campaign, the local borough group of London Cycling Campaign (LCC). We have approximately 650 members and represent the interests of cyclists living or working in the borough of Camden. We consulted our members by email on this issue and this response reflects the views of the membership.
Camden Cycling Campaign supports all the proposed measures. We believe that they represent positive improvements for both pedestrians and cyclists.
