The council wants to construct the following:
a zebra crossing on a speed table. It will feature a pavement buildout on the south western size of the crossing. The zebra will be located outside no. 41 Frognal (ie just to the south of junction with Frognal Close).
speed cushions on either side of the traffic island. This will be located outside nos 47 & 60 Frognal (ie just to the north of Frognal Close jct).
We could support the zebra crossing, but query the need for the pavement buildout as this could cause cyclists (who will be travelling slowly uphill) to get pinched by overtaking traffic. Our usual concerns about the speed cushions and expectation that full width speed humps would be safer for cyclists.
CCC’s response
In the end we had no guidance from our committee or newsgroup for this proposal so we submitted no response.
