This ride provided a second chance to sample the area’s ice-cream delights and get to know the borough of Camden. The 8 mile circular route takes in Swiss Cottage and Hampstead Heath, using green spaces and quiet streets.

Folk came from far and wide – seemed like a good chance to get to know Camden. Martin and Linda from Essex were on Bromptons, as was Elizabeth from Herts. Her grand-daughter Yasmin came on a lovely purple mountain bike – suitable for Chalk Farm’s relentless uphills! We also had Joan from south of the river who has one of those phone chargers on her dynanmo!
Weather was changeable but bursts of hot sun justified the ice cream consumption level which was pretty high. The Heath was pleasantly lush after all the rain we’ve been having and the views were great when they weren’t obstructed but over-zealous plant growth!
We took it real easy with plenty of stops and chatting. A really pleasant day which was done before 3pm. Nice and civilised!
