Camden Council plans a trial pedestrianisation of a short section of Museum Street (the bit between Gilbert Place and Little Russell Street). When contacted the council confirmed that cycle acess would be permitted. The downside to this scheme is that the council also want to make Gilbert Place one way westbound and Little Street one way eastbound.
CCC strongly agreed with the proposed closure, and strongly disagreed with the creation of new one way streets (for our reasons see here). We strongly agreed with the proposed closure of all of Museum St for Car Free Day, but expressed disappointment at the apparent small scale of Camden Council’s plans compared to last year. We suggested that there could be benefit from marking a cycle route through the closed section of street in order to reduce the risk of pedestrian/cycle conflict.
