The council is proposing the following measures around Joseph’s Primary School Holborn under the Safer Routes to School scheme.
- Closing the west end of Stukeley Street to all vehicles.
- New speed table in Newton St
- Minor signage tweaks
In our response we supported and welcomed the proposals to improve journeys to school on foot and by cycle. However we recommended that the scheme would benefit from more speed tables in one way streets such as Macklin St & Newton St. We suggest this as one way streets tend to attract higher traffic speeds than 2 way streets, and higher speeds make journeys less attractive for vulnerable road users.
