The measures proposed are:
• Constructing a zebra crossing on Malden Road close to its junction with Grafton Terrace, at
the site of the existing pedestrian refuge crossing point.
• Widening of the existing pedestrian refuge to a minimum of 2.8m to allow for a 2.8m wide
zebra crossing. (Please note this will not affect existing traffic lane widths.)
• Installing zigzag clearway markings before and after the crossing point, to ensure sightlines
are kept clear at all times from any waiting vehicles.
• Relocating the existing bus cage north west along Malden Road to allow for zigzag lines and
to align the bus cage with the existing bus shelter.
CCC’s response
We are happy with this scheme. There appear to be no disadvantages for cyclists.
