CCC’s response

Answers to questions:

1) Do you agree with the pavement widening at Parkhill Road….? NO

2) Do you agree with the proposed shared residents/pay display bays? YES

3) Do you agree with the pavement widening at England’s lane….? NO

4)Do you agree with the pavement widening at Primrose Gdns…? YES

Comments:

This proposal attempts to improve safety only for walking to The Village School and does not consider improvements for parents and children who may wish to cycle to the school. Even with respect to walking the proposal is inadequate. Rather than pavement widening, pedestrian crossings should be introduced at the very least on Parkhill Road and on Englands Lane. It is absolutely necessary to give priority to pedestrians over motorised transport in order to see a real modal shift in school travel. Cycling should also be strongly considered.
