In Ossulton Street, London, at the junction with Brill Street.
As you can see from the photos, we now have a new site for the breakfast – still on Ossulston Street, but at the junction with Brill Place. Although it was sometimes hard to stop cyclists who were racing over the cobbled bit, we agreed that the space was a great improvement with plenty of room for parking bikes and for Dr Bike to work.
Amazingly, this is the twelfth year for cyclists breakfast on Wednesday of Bike Week. It was organised by Jane Boardman with support from Richard Fletcher and Stefano Casalotti. Paul Davis and Beverley Biwaji from Camden Council as well as several CCC volunteers helped to greet the callers at the breakfast table.
The table was set up at 7.30 with an array of London Cycle maps at one end, joining leaflets and CCC brochures in the middle and all the edible goodies at the other end.
John Chamberlain and James Brander were kept very busy in their role as Dr Bike. It’s surprising that so many people commute on bikes that need fixing. I think a regular appearance of Dr Bike at this spot would be appreciated.
As usual we were able to dispense vast numbers of cycle maps and give some route advice. We spoke to someone who was on her fourth day of commuting from Muswell Hill.
We were asked about cycle parking in gardens and were able to mention PlantLoc as an innovative solution.
As usual, socialising and munching croissants seemed quite popular, although many cyclists rushed past (looking at their watches). We were very pleased to see Barnet Cyclists and our other regular visitors.
