The end of year party was chaired by Stefano, who introduced the film shows. The food was organised by Jane with help from Stefano, Richard, Anne, Colleen. James brought in the screen and Helen the projector.
We started the evening by watching the film on the visit of the All Party Parliamentary Cycling Group to the Netherlands in April 2009 with officials from British cycling organisations.
This led to much discussion about the history that led to the Netherlands improving their cycling conditions from the 1960s because children cycling to school were getting murdered. We were most impressed by the cooperation between the railway company in organising an integrated bike-train transport service with great parking at stations and ubiquitous wheel ramps.
We noted that when the Dutch were asked about cycle facilities in London, they asked what facilties.
This film was followed by a composition from an amusing set of youtube films assembled by Stefano. These included:
