This was the fourth time that Green Fair and Bike Fest had been held together in Regents Park. In 2009, Green Fair was cancelled and we held a small bike fest on the BroadWalk. We were glad to be back together again. The event was master minded by Stefano as it had been over all of those years. He was backed up by a good team of helpers and all went very well.
In spite of a bad forecast, the weather was fine all day apart from a 5 minute shower. It was then that we were pleased to have all the new gazebos purchased by Stefano for £15 each. Setting up started at 10 am and the fair opened gradually between 11 and 12. Our stall was busy all day, and as usual we dispensed vast numbers of maps as well as chatting about cycling and hopefully persuading new ones a few to join LCC.
As ever, Dr Bike proved very popular. This was run by Richard Riddle’s team of trainers from Camden Council. They had a long queue all day and by 6 pm had fixed over 150 bikes – not having been allowed to stop for lunch.
BikeFix and Velorution brought a collection of interesting bikes for people to tryout. The trial circuit was busy all day with people riding recumbents, Christiana child carriers, tandems, striders and children on kiddy bikes without pedals. Their continued participation in Bike Fest over the years is very much appreciated.
