Open Street Map Cycle Map Location
The proposals complement the measures consulted on in Dec 2010 and approved March 2011. See details of that consultation. They include the following:
– Extending the already approved raised table (raised road) on Ossulston Street, at its junction with Phoenix Road, to cover the whole junction.
– Extending the raised table (raised road) on Phoenix Road, at its junction with Werrington Street to cover the whole junction.
We need to check whether they have taken on board our request for a change of priority at the junction of Ossulston Street and Brill Place.
CCC’s response
Thank you for consulting Camden Cycling Campaign on the proposed additional
measures. We think they are fine; any measures to slow traffic are
welcome, so we can give our support.
We want to make sure that you will still take into account our earlier
comments, especially regarding the priorities at the Ossulston
Street/Phoenix Road junction. The current ‘unnatural’ layout gives
priority to vehicles making the turn from Ossulston Street into Phoenix
Road, but this is not obvious to cyclists and other road users
processing north or south-bound on Ossulston Street, resulting in
potential conflicts. It is further complicated by the priority system at
the pinch-point on the north arm of the junction.
We think it is important to restore the priority to Ossulston Street,
i.e. put the give-way on Phoenix Road east-bound rather than on Ossulston
Street.
I’ll append our previous response for reference, with the Ossulston Street issue highlighted.
Please contact me if you would like to discuss any of the points.
