The marshalls assembled at Swiss Cottage Gardens from 9:45. We were soon joined by families with children and then Geoff Stilwell and Jenny Linn-Cole arrived with a group from West Hampstead.
Over fifty riders set off from Swiss Cottage led by John Chamberlain . We followed the usual route (shown on the map here). But due to a burst water main at the southern end of Avenue Road, we had to walk over a footbridge into Regents park Outer Circle.
By the time we reached the entry to the ride route in Spring gardens we had over 70. People went off to ride round the 8-mile circuit of closed streets. We understand that there were 50,000 riders.
The map of the circuit it here. We all were impressed by the energy of the little children on small bikes, some with stabilisers and some on balance bikes. We returned with a smaller group leaving spring Place at about 3.30 pm.
