Council Elections 2014 – Camden Cycling Campaign Manifesto (Draft)

For sending to the leader of each party at Camden Council, but should include points that will be used in the ward level campaigning.

Suggested manifesto for 2014

The following points aim to promote cycling as a form of sustainable transport, to improve the enviroment and to improve people’s health:

    1. Low-traffic zones (quiet zones /home zones) – create a liveable area without any through motor traffic
    2. Dedicated space on main roads via reallocation of space to cyclists – provide separated tracks for safety and to encourage new cyclists
    3. Safe routes for school children -plan joined up routes suitable for children of 8 years and over
    4. Permeability – 2-way cycling on one way streets – allow cyclists to ride through a network of streets in the most direct manner
    5. Residential Cycle Parking -provide secure, covered cycle parking for all those that need it
