Suggested manifesto for 2014
The following points aim to promote cycling as a form of sustainable transport, to improve the enviroment and to improve people’s health:
- Low-traffic zones (quiet zones /home zones) – create a liveable area without any through motor traffic
- Dedicated space on main roads via reallocation of space to cyclists – provide separated tracks for safety and to encourage new cyclists
- Safe routes for school children -plan joined up routes suitable for children of 8 years and over
- Permeability – 2-way cycling on one way streets – allow cyclists to ride through a network of streets in the most direct manner
- Residential Cycle Parking -provide secure, covered cycle parking for all those that need it
