Extending the C6 route via low traffic neighbourhoods (LTNs)

The context of the C6 extension: protected cycle routes in dark blue; LTN areas in light blue; secondary routes in red-orange; planned protected routes in green.
The C6 cycle route runs on protected tracks from Elephant and Castle, over Blackfriars Bridge, up Farringdon Road and then via Midland Road, Pancras Road and Royal College Street to Kentish Town.
The C6 extension (red-orange line) runs up Grafton Road which has had low traffic since the Queen’s Crescent LTN was created.
The route uses a new Tiger crossing to cross Mansfield Road and then continues through the Savernake LTN. It ends at Savernake bridge which leads to Hampstead Heath.
This illustrates a useful paradigm for a quiet section of cycle route: “a set of links through low traffic neighbourhoods connected by safe crossings† over the main roads that separate the LTNs”.
† Note: the safe crossings may sometimes involve short lengths of protected lanes
