It is proposed that this scheme should operate a timed road closure on Mondays to Fridays 8am – 10am and 2pm – 4pm during school terms. These are much longer time slots than usual for school streets and will have a significant effect on reduction of motor traffic on Holmes Road. The closure will affect Holmes Road between Kentish Town Road and the bend at the Unite students’ building and will have a positive effect on both St Patrick’s Primary school and the Collège Français Bilingue de Londres.
It is also proposed that Raglan Street will have an ‘at any time’ motor vehicle restriction. This would prevent motor vehicles using Raglan Street as a short cut between Kentish Town Road and Prince of Wales Road. This will be important once Anglers Lane is closed to motor vehicles.
The restrictions will be enforced using Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras.
This scheme will be introduced using an “Experimental Traffic Order”, as a trial for a maximum of 18 months.
Exemptions: properties and businesses in the closed section of the affected road, emergency services, bin lorries, blue badge and pupils of the school that have a disability that prevents them from using active travel.
