Camden are consulting on improvements to the junctions of Priory Terrace and Priory Road with Belsize Road including rain gardens and a safer crossing from Priory Road to Kilburn Priory. The proposals include:
- Four new rain gardens to absorb run-off
- A holding tank underneath the Priory Terrace junction
- Making permanent the zebra crossing at Priory Terrace
- Upgrading the pedestrian crossing at Priory Road to include a cycle crossing
- Continuous footways across Priory Road and Kilburn Priory
- Removal of parking on Belsize Road and near the junctions
Most of the proposed changes look positive and the idea of a parallel crossing is a good one but we are worried about the detail – cyclists heading south from Priory Road to Kilburn Priory would have to cross oncoming traffic on Priory Road to use the crossing and would then end up on the wrong side of Kilburn Priory.
