This is a simple School Street scheme (no extra permeability or other goodies) that enhances the Arlington Road LTN.
Cavendish School’s main entrance is in Inverness Street, where a trial timed HSS (from Gloucester Crescent to Arlington Road) is proposed.
The school has another entrance on Arlington Road, where, as part of an earlier scheme, parking spaces have been removed and the footway widened with rain gardens directly outside the school entrance.
The proposed restrictions on Inverness Street are between 7:45 am – 8.45 am and 3.15 pm – 4:15 pm, Monday to Friday, during school term times only. They will be enforced by using ANPR cameras
There will be an Experimental Traffic Order (ETO) for a period of up to 18 months, followed by a decision to make the scheme permanent, remove it entirely, or keep it with some changes.
Exemptions:
- Vehicles registered to properties and businesses on the restricted section of the street
- Parents or pupils with a Blue Badge
- Emergency services
