The Royal College Street Southern extension will link to two new routes via the junction at Midland Road.
– a N-S route down Midland Road and on to Judd Street which is now possible southbound; the next stage will be a northbound contraflow across Euston Road
– an E-W route along Goodsway
Camden consulted on improvements to the junctions at Midland Road and at Camley Street in July-August 2014. The proposal for the Midland Road offered central feeder lanes with ‘mixing zones’. These were rejected in our response.
Camden officers went back to the drawing board and came back with a new solution:
Camden Cyclists committee endorsed this solution on 17th November 2014. Camden had expected to obtain space from HS1 to widen the westbound carriageway under the bridge. Unfortunately, HS2 refused (spring 2016). The scheme to be implemented (summer 2016) will have ‘hold the left SB’ but an unsatisfactory solution WB.
