The entrance to Gospel Oak primary school is in Savernake Road.
This proposal is related to creating a Healthy School Street outside Gospel Oak Primary School. This will prohibit motor vehicles from entering the section of Savernake Road between Mansfield Road and Rona Road during school term time, Monday – Friday between 8:30-9:30am and 3:00-4:00pm.
The restriction will be enforced through the provision of signs and by ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) cameras.
Camden’s counts indicate that about 100 vehicles travel through Savernake Road southbound towards Mansfield Road in the morning rush hour, most of them turning left onto Mansfield Road. Officers consider that most of these vehicles are travelling through Savernake Road to avoid the busy signal junction at Agincourt Road/ Mansfield Road.
In order to reduce this through traffic using Savernake Road all day, Camden proposes an option whereby it could make Savernake Road one way between Mansfield Road and Rona Road
Option 1
– Savernake Road one-way northbound for motor vehicles between Mansfield Road and Rona Road.
– ANPR Camera at Savernake Road junction with Mansfield Road
– waiting and loading restricted at Savernake Road junction with Rona Road
Option 2
– ANPR Cameras only on Savernake Road at junctions with Rona Road and Mansfield Road to enforce the timed closure
