Hawley Road (+ southern end of Castlehaven Road) runs one way eastbound and is on the north side of a small clockwise gyratory on Kentish Town Road, Hawley Crescent and Camden High Street. It is just to the north of Regents’ Canal.
The Camden Lock area has recently been redeveloped to provide a new school for Hawley Primary as well as housing. During this development the southern footway and adjacent parking places were closed.
The scheme under consultation tidies up and widens the southern footway and permanently removes the former parking places.
Role of Hawley Road in Camden’s planned cycle network
Hawley Road has been identified as an essential east-west link between Kentish Town Road and Camden High Street. IT connects via Jeffrys Street to Royal College Street,
The popular quiet north-south route on Grafton Road – Castlehaven Road connects to Hawley Road.
CCC understand that two-way cycling on Hawley Road is an ongoing project in Camden.
A concern about the current proposed scheme is that it should not do anything to prevent the implementation of two-way cycling on Hawley Road in the near future.
