The Traffic Analysis Tool conducts surveys of estimated motor vehicle journey times taking account of traffic congestion as estimated by Google Maps. The tool accepts a request for a specific route and collects Google’s predicted motor vehicle driving time repeatedly over any period of duration between 6 hours to 14 days. Full instructions for use can be found under the About this tool tab.

Here is the set of results produced by that request. It is produced in graphical form only to satisfy Google Maps’ Terms and Conditions of use. The bar labels show journey times in seconds.
Update July 2020
The Traffic Analysis Tool has been used more heavily recently and on some days it has exhausted its shared daily quota of free Google Maps API requests. The tool then rejects all further requests submitted on that day. To enable users to work around this we have added a facility to submit a personal Google Maps API key. The ‘?’ button alongside the Google Maps API key explains how to obtain a personal API key. The submission of a valid API key with your requests will cause the tool to proceed using your separate quota. The use of a personal API key isn’t obligatory – requests submitted without it will be accepted until the daily quota is exhausted, as before. However we do ask heavy users to supply a personal key in order to leave the shared quota available for lighter users.
