Three More Healthy School Streets

Camden are consulting on creating three new Healthy School Streets schemes in Somers Town. Dates: consultation 5th October to 26th October 2022; Reply to: healthy.school.streets@camden.gov.uk; CCC member dealing with it John Chamberlain. Responded 24th October 2022.; Decision Dec 2022

Camden are consulting on three more Healthy School Street schemes (one is an extension of an existing trial). The schemes and a brief comment are as follows (more details on Camden’s consultation page). Together these will close a large area of Somers Town to motor traffic at school entry and leaving times. You can see the area covered here: Somers Town HSS.

  • St Mary & St Pancras – make the existing trial permanent, extend the morning hours to 8-9:30 (currently 8-9), extend the area to include parts of Werrington Street and Polygon Road and all of Aldenham Street.
  • Regent High School – a new closure 8-9:30 a.m. and 3-4 p.m. on parts of Chalton and Cranleigh Streets.
  • Edith Neville – a new closure 8-9:30 a.m. and 3-4 p.m. to include parts of Purchese and Charrington Streets.

Camden also propose two new cycle hangars on each of Aldenham, Chalton and Purchese Streets and will ban parking within 10m of junctions in the area by painting double yellow lines.

As with other schemes in Camden, there will be exemptions for residents.
