Chester Road Consultation

Camden are consulting on measures for Chester Road. The proposals would remove parking where it obstructs buses or is close to junctions and speed cushions would be replaced by full width sinusoidal humps. Dates: Consultation: 30th June to 20th July 2026; Reply to safetravel@camden.gov.uk; CCC member dealing with it John Chamberlain.

Camden are consulting on measures for Chester Road. The proposals include the following:

  • Replace speed cushions with full width sinusoidal humps
  • Add continuous pavement at junction with Dartmouth Park Hill
  • Additional crossing points for pedestrians
  • Removing parking where it obstructs buses or is close to junctions
  • Add dropped kerbs to facilitate access to the Chester Road Hostel

Initial Comments

  • Sinusoidal speed humps are welcome as cushions are ineffective.
  • We are pleased to see the continuation of Camden’s policy to ban parking and loading within 10m of all junctions.
  • Measures to facilitate the passage of buses are good for buses but also for cyclists who get stuck behind them

Consultation Letter

The consultation is not on Camden’s website but we have uploaded the consultation letter here
