South London Parks Ride – May 2019

Early in May, two-way cycling was introduced into St Cross Street and Saffron Street close to the route of CS6.
Family ride for children and beginners to Roundwood Park via King Edward VII Park & Willesden Sports Centre, home via Tiverton Green. Led by Geoff Stilwell
Leisurely, family ride led by Geoff Stilwell, around Welsh Harp with refreshments at Birchen Road Garden Centre, returning via Gladstone Park.
Camden Council have won funding to remove the gyratory and make much better use of the surrounding streets. NOTE: the bad news – TfL withdrew this funding in 2020.
By the end of March, the cycle signals are working and Midland Road is progressing, following the closure of Judd Street in January.
No more rat-running via this street and better access from Red Lion Square for people using inclusive cycles.
Tuesday 8th January 2019, the first day of term, Camden’s third Healthy School Street was launched as a trial.
Led by James Brander: Regents Park, Lincoln’s Inn, Battersea Park, Brompton Cemetary, Holland Park, Kensington Gardens & Hyde Park.
At last, the risk to cyclists from left-turning motor vehicles has been removed.
