Following a meeting in April and our May paper, Camden has issued a new version of the Map where tye key refers to infrastructure rather than routes,
News from the Streets, Albany Street Consulation, Upcoming rides, AGM and more.
Fifth instalment: developments in York Way, Haverstock Hill, Crowndale Road, pedestrianisation of Camden High Street and Leather Lane.
Camden are proposing major changes to Albany Street (east of Regents Park), including 2.4 km of segregated cycle tracks, junction improvements and pedestrian and cycle crossings. It’s good to see this but we have issues with the design, especially the narrowness of the proposed tracks. Dates: Consultation 12th May to 8th June 2025; Reply to: safetravel@camden.gov.uk; CCC member dealing with it: John Chamberlain. Responded 7th June 2025. Decision (approved) 2nd October 2025.
In which we argue that a cycle route map is different from a cycle network map. By Jean Dollimore. John Chamberlain and Suzanne Weller
Camden are proposing measures to make permanent the trial changes in the Phoenix Road area of Somers Town. Most of the changes relate to the planted areas where planters would be replaced by permanent planted zones and a cycle path delineated but the proposals include some additional restrictions on motor vehicles and a number of other improvements to the streetscape. Dates: Consultation 3rd April to 30th April 2025; Reply to: safetravel@camden.gov.uk; CCC member dealing with it: John Chamberlain. Responded 29th April 2025.
Camden are proposing upgrades to Greville Road, Kilburn Priory and Priory Road to extend Cycleway 51 from the Westminster boundary to Abbey Road. The most significant proposals are to pedestrianize part of Kilburn Priory and a ban on motor vehicles entering Greville Road eastbound at Mortimer Crescent. Dates: Consultation 3rd April to 4th May 2025; Reply to: safetravel@camden.gov.uk; CCC member dealing with it: John Chamberlain. Responded 3rd May 2025. Scheme approved with minor changes 13th November 2025.
